I installed Gutsy a week ago - and everything worked out of the box. Then i started working with it - and tried qemu for virtualisation. On that day i used qemu i remember i set the setting "emulate sound card" - and after that day no sound works in linux anymore.
I thought it was a wring setting - but i couldn't find anything. I even compiled the latest ALSA driver,libs and utils - no change.
Then i did a new fresh gutsy install - and now the strange thing happened: there was no sound either (at the first gutsy install it worked out of the box!).
i thought my soundcard has died, and i started Vista that came preinstalled on my laptop (don't be scared - i don't use it ;-) - it's definitely not usable) - and there sound works....
I have really no idea anymore what could be wrong...
