    Minolta 1350W won't print

    I found instructions at http://openprinting.org/show_printer...-PagePro_1350W
to download a drive RPM and use Alien to convert it to a DEB. The printer is connected to my wife's XP box and I had no problems finding it as a SMB share and chose the correct model to install drivers. When I tried to print a test page nothing came out. I looked at CUPS at http://localhost:631/ and beside the printer's name was a message "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed".

Try and install the following package using apt-get: openprinting-ppds-extra

That package installed a whole whack of PPD definition files. None of them for my Minolta. I found some help at http://openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi.

i now have the PPD for my printer (Minolta-PagePro_1350W-min12xxw.ppd). Where does it go?

        Copy the file to /usr/share/ppd/openprinting/KONICA_MINOLTA/
        Then: cd /usr/share/ppd/openprinting/KONICA_MINOLTA/
Then gzip the file (if not done alrady): sudo gzip filename

Might not be needed but to be safe restart the cups service.
