    Enabling Restricted Drivers...

I have an ATI Radeon X550 video card that does not seem to want to work very well with gutsy. All of the ATI driver installation instructions want me to go to system settings > System Administration > Software Sources and check the 'Proprietary Drivers' box. The problem is that, because the graphics card isn't working, the fonts are all our of whack and are too big to see the box. There doesn't appear to be anything I can do to get to that box and click on it. Is there a way I can enable this through the terminal? I'm posting the contents of Xorg.conf just in case.

    Thanks,

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Re: Enabling Restricted Drivers...

It says it is a VESA display -- did you configure it with the sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg routine? Can you run a browser with it? If so, I would go straight to the Envy site here:

    http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

and download the Envy script installer, and then see if that installs the proprietary driver correctly.
