    KDE and ATI weirdness ?

everything worked fine with the vesa driver. but, after installing the drivers the problem begins.

kde's drop down flashes. and are mostly unusable.
I see only the "log off" option, no restart / shutdown and all. I have to log off, and shutdown from the login screen...

Anyone else have this ? Any ideas on how to solve this ?

    I'm on a dell inspirion 6400 laptop, with a ATIX1300

I had the same two problems, just didn't associate them with the ATI driver. I thought Compiz is causing the logout screen thingie. Do you have it installed?

About the drop-down menus flashing, I have now idea how to fix it. I reinstalled the system (previously, I upgraded from Feisty, so I though the upgrade broke some things) and it's fine now.

nope, compiz is off. tried it but my, it's just so bugy.

I had a look on the bug tracker, on the 4 people known to have this issue, one have a nvidia.
Are you somehow using a widescreen ?

Wait, you had that drop down problem and fixed it by reinstalling ?

Yes, whenever I hovered the mouse over a drop-down menu it started flashing. It continued to do for about 5 seconds, and then either dropped if I clicked on it. The problem was the system being unusable for that 5 seconds, no matter if I eventually used the menu or not.
They worked fine in LiveCD, so I reinstalled and it's OK now.

          I have a normal 17" 1280x1024 screen.
