    Mounting Drive

    Kubuntu shows my 160 gig SATA windows drive that has vista on it, but when I try and go into it I get an error. THis worked fine out of the box in ubuntu and suse, any way to fix this? I really need my data.



    error on bottom of dolphin, get the same error no matter what. please help

    I would guess that the drive is not being mounted. Post the contents of /etc/fstab.

      I think it's the NTFS thing.

      Install the package ntfs-3g.

      Then, go into System Settings>User Management, then choose "Admin" mode, then highlight your user, and click "Modify", and add the "Fuse" group to the user. (This is kind of "reverse Polish" logic -- you're really adding the user to the group .... ).

      Finally, edit /etc/fstab and make the filesystem type "ntfs-3g" for that partition.

      Reboot your system, and MAYBE you'll be able to read & write to that partition.
