    Recycle bin placement

I'd like to say that putting the recycle bin in the bottom right corner was really a big mistake. The corners of the screen are important area's of placement, it is far more logical, better on the eyes, and easier all round to have the kubuntu/start menu item bottom left, and the basic DATE and TIME in the bottom right, users can then easily glance at these area's for this information with much more ease. As for a recycle bin, if it really must stay down there move it left of the date and time, but it makes far more sense to have it on the desktop, thats more user friendly and what users expect. Thankyou.

Yes, the clock in the right down corner is a classic - Here is a screenie for those not using the default, like me :-)

In fact, I would rather have the recycle bin in the System Menu, neither the panel, nor the desktop ... The System Menu should be the place for this sort of abstactions IMHO ...

I like it where it is, personally.  The desktop is useless in my way of working, since my desktop is almost never visible.  And the reason I prefer it in the corner is that you can just jam your mouse down to the corner and let go of the file, since it occupies the cornermost pixel, same as the X to close a program in the upper right.  I don't even have to look where the pointer is going and can keep my eye on my work.

Regardless, everyone has their own way of working, which is why the icons on panel are moveable?

Also, the trash is still on your desktop, it's just hidden.  To unhide it, open the (hidden) trash.desktop file on your desktop in Kate and change the line "NoDisplay=true" to "NoDisplay=false".
