    Enable Konqueror's sidebar by default

It's a very simple thing to change for Kubuntu : to my opinion, having a sidebar when you browse files in Konqueror is very useful. It's enabled by default in Windows (information about files are displayed by default, and you can click on an easy to find button called "Folders" to see a tree instead), Gnome, Mac OS and in other distributions with KDE.
I really like the interface of Kubuntu, and this is the little thing which would be very useful, either for beginners or for more advanced users. Moreover, it's quite difficult to find how to enable the sidebar (the simplest way is to push the F9 key).
Do you agree with me ?

Get Konqueror exactly the way you like it; then, save the view (I think it's in Tools).

Yes, that's exactly what I do.
But I just found it strange that it's not enabled by default in Kubuntu (other distribs enable it, and it's very common in other OSes).

I don't see what's so strange about it. When I've installed other distributions, that's one of the first things I get rid of. It's a matter of personal preference.

It seems you got your wish.  It's enabled by default now.

But really now, what is this stuff about "it's quite difficult to find how to...".  It's right in the view menu, including telling you the shortcut!  How much easier could it be to find?  Even someone straight from Windows would instinctively look on the view menu.

You're not one of those GNOME GUI "experts" are you?   :P  Remember well the words of Linus - "If you think your users are idiots, only idiots will use it."

I saw that it's now enabled and really appreciated it !!!
I don't know but in Kubuntu 5.10 I couldn't find it easily... even in the View menu. Strange because this is the first menu I checked to find it.
