There are lot of info on the net about how to setup Linux to boot off USB drive, and I will be happy to see such utility included in the next, or may be next next..... release of Kubuntu, and I wonder why not.

Isn't that more a hardware matter?
Plus to offer specific usb (flash drive) boot support, they would need to create a different boot setup for that option iirc, which would probably take up too much space on the already crowded iso image, or create yet another iso image just for that.
I do believe there are linux distros that do this, or offer it however. Plus, at least on my usb drives, kubuntu runs terribly terribly slowly that way last time i tried it out (Edgy). It was waaaaaay slower than a livecd.
