    Shutting down programs

Now, before all of you start yelling at me "Ash, there's no need for that, Linux programs are stable!" Hell yeah they are, but the problem isn't Linux programs, it's Windows. When you use an non-emulator emulator like WINE some programs don't even start up right, or become non-responsive and hard to shut down. I had a program that actually had trouble starting up (didn't make it past the load screen) and it drained my computer's ability to even process anything. So there it was... 90% of my computer being dedicated to a program that didn't even know how to start up. Solution? Restarting the system.

I think Gutsy (or Linux in general) should have some sort of ctrl-alt-del. Because these unresponsive programs in Windows are hard to control without one. Just a suggestion, sorry if it deals with more of programs then Gutsy in general.

    Greets,
    Ash

That's supposed to (and does on my "Gutsy" test system) bring up the process table

It doesn't bring up a Process Table. It brings up my K Menu. As in the thing in the bottom left hand corner that has a K on it, that shows all your programs.

          As in this

            Re: Shutting down programs

O.k., this looks as if someone had "gone creative" again - for, at least on my "Feisty" test system, both "Log Out" and "Process Table" by (new) default are now mapped to the same keyboard shortcut: [Ctrl][Alt][Del] ...

To quit this "double-feature" (read: remap the process table back to [Ctrl][Esc]), you may want to launch the KDE Control Center (by [Alt][F2] kcontrol) and navigate therein to Regional & Accessibility > Keyboard Shortcuts > Shortcut Schemes > Global Shortcuts, where "Log Out" and "Show Taskmanager" will be what you are looking for ...

Add.: thanks for "hinting" (note taken).

I have default installation of Kubuntu Feisty and <Ctrl-Esc> brings up process table.
There is xkill too, it can kill applications.

Xkill: Type Ctl-Alt-Esc. Your mouse cursor turns into a skull-and-crossbones. Move it to the window you want to kill. Click, and it's gone! This used to be installed by default. If that's no longer true, just install the package "xkill".
