    Sharing Files

I've found that sharing files with Samba is a little tricky on Kubuntu. On Ubuntu its just a matter of few clicks. What I'm asking for is a tool to configure file sharing the easy way, without jumping into Samba configuration file and edit it by hand.

YES that would definitely be a great help along with installing samba by default.

The developers would probably want to poll the users. If you run a completely linux environment, there is no need for samba. You can use NFS or other solutions. I use samba because I have a few windows boxes on the network that need access to shared music and movies. Kind of a security thing that you don't want to install/enable unnecessary services that open up additional ports if not needed. I agree that it is non-trivial to get samba shares working like you want them.
