    What about kwrited?

    README.Debian says:
    Why kwrited doesn't work
    ------------------------

Kwrited requires the utempter library to be installed in order to work
(and to have been installed during compilation). utempter is considered a
hack by many Debian developers and consequently it has never been packaged.
Thus until proper utmp/wtmp write support is added, kwrited won't work.

What about the functionality of kwrited in kubuntu?

Anyway, i don't think we even have kwrited anymore, for that very reason (debian doesn't do it as it is considered a security issue)

      Thanks for your reply.
How apcupsd informs a user about the UPS status under KDE in Kubuntu?

I have absolutely no idea, never have had much dealings with UPS's, probably use whatever Ubuntu would use would work, but look at this:

        http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/x11/knutclient
        homepage for it here:
