huge kwrite and find files/folders icons in kde3' kmenu after installing kde4

after installing kde4 in kubuntu 7.10 I got two huge icons in kde3 kmenu: "kwrite" and "find files and folders". clicking on them opens kde4 versions and not kde3 ones like it used to be.

Those definitely are large. Have you tried switching Icon Themes just to see if it is isolated to that one you are using?

does not happen with kubuntu's default icon theme. also they aren't big with "crystal project" icon theme.

In this directory from your Home folder "~/.kde/share/icons/", do you see a 16x16, 22x22, or even a 24x24 folder inside the Icon Theme that is having the problems? This may not be the issue, just trying to figure why. It could be that the KDE4 versions are looking for icon names that the icon theme you are using doesn't contain and is locating what it can. Just a guess.

deleting files:

rm .kde/share/icons/bctangokde/128x128/apps/accessories-text-editor.png
rm .kde/share/icons/bctangokde/64x64/apps/accessories-text-editor.png
rm .kde/share/icons/bctangokde/48x48/apps/accessories-text-editor.png

rm .kde/share/icons/bctangokde/128x128/actions/system-search.png
rm .kde/share/icons/bctangokde/64x64/actions/system-search.png

solved the problem, now icon placeholders are empty (like with crystal icon theme for example) instead of displaying huge icons

Wish I knew how to fix it beyond that. I'm not to knowledgeable on how they use icons. Just know how to install, locate, edit and move.
