Read this Upgrading from 7.04 (Feisty) and note step 4 and what it says in substeps 3 and 4.

Re: Upgrade From 7.04 to 7.10 Failed - Scared To Reboot!

Well, I'm back. I'm up and running

The only problem I see is that when I got to the K-menus and select System Settings I immediately get a crash reporting citing "The application System Settings (systemsettings) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV)."

My fonts are very small and look more like type writer font than anything else. Sure would be nice to go to System Settings to change the screen resolution and other options.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks for the support guys/gals!

Yep. That's an easy fix, and the solution is posted here.

Okay...looks like I made it! I'm not exactly sure what I did to get where I am nor where I was when I first started but it was an experience that I will never forget. :P

The only lose string seems to be Adept prompting me to update libgpod to the latest version but doing so causes some conflict (break) and Adept stops the update. That has happened twice - once after each reboot. Is this something I should correct or should I just move on and be happy about getting the update finished?

What you want to check is whether the cd-rom repository is still present and 'active.' Open Adept Manager and click on the Third-Party Software tab. If the cd-rom is there, and checked, delete it - you don't need it anymore. Then, if Adept Manager doesn't automatically fetch updates, click on Fetch Updates.

I checked and I do not see a CD repository. What say ye?

This sources.list was generated by source-o-matic, so it won't have a cd-rom entry.

Add the medibuntu repository and follow the instructions for getting DVD playback, and you will be happy.

If this keeps happening, close Adept, open a terminal (Konsole), and run the command
                    Code:
                    sudo aptitude install -f
That will probably fix the problem (hopefully ).

Edit: If you run the command, and it wants to 1st remove some software, tell it "no" and see if it provides you with another option
