So we have a hard drive that's running a couple hundred degrees, and you had data transfer problems?

Hmmmmmm. Let me think about this........

I'm warming up to the idea of baking some Christmas cookies on the HD while trying to play an MP3 of Alvin and the Chipmunks doing "Christmas Time is Near" which was saved on the same unit. If this works, I think you have an item you could sell on eBay for more than the cost of a new laptop. In fact you might approach the Ronco company with this thing, and make a mint.
