    OpenOffice and LiveCD

    I'm teaching a class on OpenOffice using the Desktop CD since the school won't allow me to install Linux on the course computers. Now I had arrived at the Base module and found that Base wasn't installed on the CD, there was Kexi instead. However, since Kexi isn't integrated in OpenOffice I decided to have the students install Base. And my problems arose. The installation went fine (no errors at least), the Office menu was updated with an entry for Base but when trying to run it the Writer module opens. I tried it from the command line and the same thing happened. Also there is no option to create a new database in Writer's File menu. Basically, it doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? I'm using the 7.04 CD since I started the class before 7.10 came out. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

    In your situation you might want to see if you can run from a 4 Gig USB thumb drive instead of Live CD. That way you can really save a program installation.
