    Installing software in kubuntu 7.04

Hi everybody...... I'm new to dis linux world......
i'm havin trouble installing deb packages on Kubuntu 7.04. Can anyone help me out?
The adept package manager doesnt work on the packages. When i open it with adept, it asks for my password and after i type it, nothing happens. What should I do now

When you say 'nothing happens,' do you mean that Adept Manager doesn't open??

The likelyhood is a 'timing issue.'

The following should fix it - it did for me - as Adept "sometimes" wouldn't open the first time.

        Press Alt+F2
        Type: kdesu kate /etc/sudoers
        Enter your password.
Add: ,timestamp_timeout=0 (note the leading apostrophe)
        to the line:
        Defaults !lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn
so that is looks like this:
        Defaults !lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn,timestamp_timeout=0

        Save and close Kate.

Retry opening Adept Manager. You should be prompted for your password, and Adept Manager should open.

I'm a noob too and these links have been a great help to me for getting things installed:

These links may not make sense to you now but trust me, you'll find a use for them.
