Searching some sort of XferPro

Hi !

I got a mail from someone and i had problems to view the attachment. It is an application/appledoc (appledouble) with some other options.

I found a tool for windows which could extract the content (a .doc file) and save it. Now i am searching for something like this for Linux. The windows tool is named XferPro and extracts compressed/hex/bin/base64 and so on files.

Do anybody know something like this?

have you tried right clicking the attachment and looking at the open with options?

yes, only the normal open with kate/kwrite possibilities.

guess it cant do that much damage in linux..

i successfully installed and ran it in linux with crossover office.
havent tried any files though but can send deb for CO if you want

have you tried openoffice word processor? i was looking around and it hit me that a .doc is a document file so openoffice should do the trick. to get to it incase you are not sure:

right click on file you want to open
go to open with and then other
then a box will open with all the programs
go to office then click on openoffice.org word processor then ok

if this dont work please forgive me. i dont have a .doc file on my computer .

if all you want is open a M$ word doc you have many options
xferpro is for binhex files, mac files and stuff it seems

You missunderstood me! I know how to open a .doc file. But this attachment isn't a doc file. It is a document which is compressed and packed in something like an applefile type with an mimetype appledouble.

If i open the attachment file in an Editor it looks like this:

But i found another way. Just receive the mail with another mail client. My girlfriend always uses the gmx-web-frontend, and it can't decode the content. My Opera can decode it, my lotus notes (ok in Windows at work ;-) ) also,... and i think the other mail clients will also do, except the gmx-web-frontend ;-)
