But that's what I meant, coyotl...I can't uninstall it...the system won't let me. It gets to a point where it says it's getting too many errors, pointing to speedcrunch (which you can't remove for the same reason, cept it points to libpq5 as the cause of the errors).

I think I'm gonna install Gutsy and see if it'll make it better somehow...I'm stymied.

I'm dead in the H2O here...can't upgrade to Gutsy, cuz I have to complete the upgrading of the 84 upgradable apps before I can get it to start.

There's gotta be a way to fix this thang!

Perhaps another clue...synaptic is giving me the following message:

E: language-support-en: files list file for package 'libpq5 is missing final newline

Does this whether I try to completely remove it, remove it, or reinstall it

Are you still trying to fix this? Give us:

sudo apt-get check

This will check for broken dependencies

dpkg-query --status libpq5

This will check the state of the libq5 package

dpkg --audit

This will check for partially installed packages

The tips on this forum helped me out big time. I was having the same problem but I uninstalled libpq5 and then did an sudo apt-get install libpq5 and then tried the adept updater and all worked fine.
