Whenever I try to switch from one window to another, it seems to take forever. It hasn't always been like this but has just recently started. I'll click on a different window to switch to, and it tries to do all this fading from one to the other and just seems to take a really long time. Any ideas?

it's a a T40 laptop with 512 MB of RAM and a 1.6 GHZ CPU. I've noticed that when i switch windows the xorg process completely pegs the CPU.Comment

I added
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "disable"
EndSection
in my xorg.conf file and everything's fine now. Anyone want to explain what this line does?Comment

It disables compositing. Compositing is basically drawing translucent windows like in Windows Vista. (Personally, I hate it.) You can read a little more here.For external use only.Comment
