Emerald themes ain't loading

Folks, in my attempt to solve CompizFusion window decorator problems (http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...86775.msg89666), I've found that Emerald seems not to be working (even without CompizFusion).

If I open Emerald from the K menu, I can see the list of themes, but if I click on one of them, nothing happens.

What does Emerald depend on? Any ideas where to start debugging?

Emerald is kind of a weird little program -- but you could change themes when I had it running my Beryl window decorations on Feisty. Now, it seems it may be kind of stuck on the default theme.

This is probably a temporary situation -- I dunno for sure.
