    K3B - IO Error

I tried making a CD from Amorak and I was greeted with a error in K3B that said the following.
IO Error. Most likely no space left on harddisk.
When I click on the debugger report I get no information about an error. I've made disks in the past so I probably borked something but I can't figure out how to chase it. I get the same error if I open from the menu or from cmd prompt. I tried purging from aptitude and re installing to no avail.
If someone could help me on this adventure I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Do you have ample room on your hard drive? I've run into backup problems before in which the program I was using duplicated its backup every time it ran, so it literally filled up my 200gb hdd; it left me with only about 60mb to operate on. If you don't know how to check, open Konsole and type 'df -h'.

Yeah, sorry, I should have mentioned that in my googling for a solution I checked things like that. I have 59GB on my HD. I haven't found anything so far that gives me an idea where to look for this. It's definitely not what the error says though.

            Re: K3B - IO Error

:P K3b is a GUI application, so if you want to try firing it off from a console, use:
            Code:
            kdesu k3b
provide your password and see if the results are the same. You will still get errors within the console window, but they will be A LOT fewer, and K3b will load (after you provide your password).

Allright, thank you, that worked. But I expect that doing something as root would work always (you'd hope). I might try making another user and see if it's an account thing.
Nest question, which errors do I care to chase? I don't want to be root just to write a disk.

                Re: K3B - IO Error

You should not have to. K3b, if fully installed, is found in K Menu | Multimedia
Just click and it will load.

                  You lost me Snowhog.
My problem is that if I run K3B I get the error. Yes I can select it from the menu and yes Amorok brings it up but K3B won't work. Apparently I can use it as root which is what "kdesu" does but my question is how do I chase this error?
I see a line that says "kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KActionCollection:perator+=(): function is severely deprecated." Is there a degradation of KDE to look for?

It's all a learning process. Heck, it's even more challenging when you have to do the learning 'over the 'net'. Try this (to see if you have the right package installed) in the browser (you are using Konqueror, yes?): in the URL window type apt:/ and press enter. Do you get the KDE Search Form page?

Okay, so your K3b install is identical to mine. Good. Means that you have all the same dependencies K3b needs. But you say you can't successfully logout of X (KDE Desktop) eggs-actly what steps are you taking to logout?

Is it possible to uninstall/ reinstall kde or is it reinstall Kubuntu time?
