How do I get the titlebar back in Firefox?

    I'm running Kubuntu 7.04...

In attempting to make Firefox use the entire screen by default upon launch, I seem to have caused the titlebar to disappear and cannot get it back. I've been searching the web for the past few hours trying to figure out how to fix this, but have not yet found anything. Please help!

This was caused when I right-clicked on the titlebar, chose "Advanced", then either "Special Window Settings" or "Special Application Settings" - I cannot remember which. Under "Geometry", I clicked on "Fullscreen" & "Force". While this did work - the app opens up fullscreen every time - it also opens every other window Firefox window fullscreen, and covering the taskbar. Since there is no titlebar, when the occasional pop-up ad gets through the pop-up blocker, it takes up the full screen and I have no way to close or minimize it!

I tried deleting the Firefox profile from KControl, but that didn't make any difference. Please, I really want the titlebar back for Firefox. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated. And if anyone can tell me how to make Firefox (or Konqueror, or anything else for that matter...) open up maximized by default, I would appreciate that too.

    Thanks!

Can you see the titlebar when you open firefox? If so right click on it and choose advanced (or something to that extent, mine is in german) and go to special stting for this window (or similar) and reset/deactivate geometry, etc.

No.... That is exactly the problem I am asking about. I cannot get the titlebar whenever I open Firefox.

I just tried starting Firefox from a shell by typing the following --> "firefox -height 600 -width 800"
This window also opened up fullscreen with no titlebar. Clearly something is overriding the specific instructions being given to the "firefox" command.

      Any thoughts or ideas?

      Thanks again.

Okay sorry. well the only thing I can think of is doing this:
Ctrl+F2 type kontrol in the screen, press enter then navigate to regional->keyboard shortcuts and scroll down to change window size or something. Set a shortcut of your choice (linke ctrl+alt+z) accept, close, restart firefox and try and resize the window like that. Then go with your mouse to a border and right click on there and go on from there.

        I hope that helps

        Edit:
You should be able to use any border as long as your main panel (usually at the bottom) isn't covered.

          Fintan-

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, setting a keyboard shortcut didn't do anything either...

Any other ideas? I'll try pretty much anything at this point...

Can you get to a border so that your mouse pointer changes into a sort of double arrow? See my edit in last post.

Re: How do I get the titlebar back in Firefox?

Okay well it was worth a try. I know that everything you do in linux has a config file somewhere. and since you did this change of behavior as user that file will be in your /home/yourusername/ hidden away as a hidden file. Either under .kde (your kde specific configurations) or .mozilla/firefox (your firefox specific configurations) now the problem is where to find it to edit/delete it.

I am not that expert in Linux to tell you which file it could be.

So, you can do one of three things:
-provided you don't have a ton of add-ons you could delete the .mozilla/firefox file and restart firefox. A new one will be generated. Do a backup and name it firefoxold first so you can replace it if the deleting has no effect.

-if your kde is fairy new and you haven't configured it too much then you could delete .kde after having backed up all your amarok, konqueror, kmail, kontact, etc settings. You will find those files in /home/yourusername/.kde/share/apps.
After you reboot you will have a new kde desktop. Then you can copy/paste your backed up apps files back into your new .kde/share/apps file.

-change the title to your post to reflect the problem. Something like this:
Which config file controls window behavior settings...??

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: How do I get the titlebar back in Firefox?

When using Advanced > Fullscreen will tell:

You have selected to show a window in fullscreen mode.

If the application itself does not have an option to turn the fullscreen mode off you will not be able to disable it again using the mouse: use the window operations menu instead, activated using the Window Operations Menu (Alt+F3) keyboard shortcut.
Alt+F3 works also if you Advanced > No Border
                  Before you edit, BACKUP !

                      Rog131-

That did the trick! Thank you very much - I don't think I'd have EVER stumbled across that shortcut myself...

                      Fintan-

I tried deleting both .mozilla & .kde (i.e. renaming them & letting Firefox / KDE recreate them on their own), but that still did not work... I was with you thinking that the file affecting the Firefox windows had to be in one of those directories, but I guess it's not. Fortunately it no longer matters, but it's going to bother me that I never figured it out

Oh well - thanks again to both of you, and take care!
