Kubuntu rocks, but...

(I am still a noob with linux)

I have never been able to get .mpg or.wmv files or dvd's to ever play in Linux. No matter what distro I have tried (I have settled on Kubuntu finally). Kaffeine asks for a codec, but know not where to get one, let alone install it! I have tried XMMS, as another alternative. Any suggestions of help is greatly appreciated.

Look here for what needs to be done to get functional DVD playback in Kubuntu.

A little searching within this forum will result in answers to most questions you might have concerning Kubuntu.

yeah, this question/"issue" has been addressed many, many times on the forum. the info is even on the kubuntu wiki.
