How to change kde screensaver without using 'configure desktop' ?

Ok, I changed from the openGL package I was using to a different one and while that fixed some problems I'd been having, it broke my GL screen saver.

When the screensaver would activate, a kde crash handler message appears instead.

If I go to 'configure desktop' and choose the screensaver tab, configure desktop crashes (and my wallpaper vanishes for a few secs.)

So is there a way to change the kde screensaver without using 'configure desktop', using the konsole or whatever ?

    Alt-F2
    Code:
    kcontrol
Appearance & Themes > Screen Saver

I fear, however, that it is the same KDE module and will likely produce the same result. :P

If you want to share details about your video hardware and driver, maybe we can do better.

Same result I'm afraid, anything that tries to show thr preview of the screensaver goes up in flames the same way.

Go to ~/.kde/share/config/ and open up the kdesktoprc file. Under the [ScreenSaver] section, delete the words that come after "Saver=" Save and then you can open the Screen Saver settings again without crashing.
