azureus crashes during first startup ????

I have searcher the entire forum and followed their instuctions, and I still cant get azureus to work. use alternative compiled version gcj or something.

Have you tried other alternatives like Ktorrent or better utorrent through WINE. Its all a breeze through automatix..

I switched to ubuntu, it is more devellopped than kubuntu, so most of my problems are gone. but I will check automatrix.

You shouldn't have to compile anything for it. Did you try removing it and re-installing? Make sure you have all the dependencies. I find that you need to google when an app isn't working properly and there is often some other package needed but it's not very intuitive or obvious.

I tried Automatix a year ago in Ubuntu and it was an ultimate failure. It just didn't work although it looks really appealing on the website.

Is it updated and revised or something?

I would try Azureus again. It works for me but I think the speed is very slow and I'm not sure if it's the configuration or just my connection. It seems to be a bit slower than the version I have in Windoze.

i have installed azureus without automatix on ubuntu and it workes fine without a single issue. Also automatix released v2.

Hi,

azureus is a java program the last time i looked so you should not be compiling anything. Anyway ktorrent is the best torrent app under linux-I would use that.

I would replace azureus by anything, as long as it allows me to do a few things:

- have a share ration, seed untill 1.5:1 or any other ratio
- have the ability to select what you want to dl or not, and what you want to dl first

How about KTorrent? I'm pretty sure it comes preinstalled, and it's a great little program.

I use Ktorrent alongside utorrent and im sure it does all that and a bit more. These have been implemented in the newer versions.

Check the Azureus site...I had the same problem...known bug for some systems and they have a fix process...
