    Re: Beryl Borders

You have the famous "missing window decorator" problem. If you search on that, you should find right about a zillion posts.

Did you run "beryl" in a console window? Did it report that your system will support glx and compositing? You need to do that, then if you're good to go, the window decorator thing is fixable.

It means you have successfully enabled AIGLX -- it's good news!

Did you also install the package "beryl-manager"? You need it. When installed, you want to run beryl-manager and it will put a red icon down on your panel. Right-click that icon, and you will be able to select the Window Manager (i.e. Beryl) and the Window Decorator (Emerald is suggested, but Aquamarine is another possiblity).

Bear in mind that the Beryl project is no longer being maintained. It has merged (again) with Compiz to create Compiz Fusion. Old bugs like the missing borders issue have been fixed (at least for me) in Compiz Fusion.

Beryl isn't even available in the Gutsy repo, so they have really dropped it like a hot potato. But it is still in Feisty, so I'm running it on my Feisty Ubuntu setup.

To get "wobbly windows" and other special effects, you need to open the Beryl Manager and work your way through the many menus. I think wobbly windows is on one of the first ones that you come to. Skydomes are buried pretty deep in -- I couldn't find them the last time I reinstalled it LOL.
