make picture cd

I'd like to make a picture cd (slideshow) that plays on dvd players. I use Nero on windows to do this, is there a alternative I can use on Kubuntu? I checked k3b but didn't see any way to do this.

Thanks, I tried qdvdauthor, seems buggy, crashed a number of times creating the slideshow. I found that digikam can save a slideshow, now I need to test if I can create a vcd from the file.

Digikam will also create an mpeg video. I don't know whether you can include transition like the slide show but it's worth a look. You can also include audio files.
