    strange VI behaviour...

I have a problem with the editor "vi" into my Kubuntu 7.04. Namely, the editor seems working correctly in opening and editing the files, apart from the fact that, in the "insert mode", it does not recognize properly the arrows keys, and instead of moving the cursor in the adiacent row or column, it write some letters on the screen.

Admittedly, I do not know if it is an installation problem or something connected to my hardware (I use an ACER Aspire 3630), so I wonder if anyone had a similar problem and can give me some hints..

    Thanks in advance,

    Marco

Don't worry, this is the default behaviour of "vi" in Ubuntu.
Open a package manager (adept or synaptic) and check if "vim-enhanced" is installed. You are probably not getting syntax highlighting too.
