messed up my proftp :(

Hi, after messing with a working proftp I tried to fix things a bit and now can't get it to work. I tried the usual Windows solution (reinstall) but it just dooesn't work. (no configuration blabla...)

Are there some basic steps I can take to set everything to default? (It was just fine the first time I started it)

EDIT: When I run proftpd -d 9 (or some smaller number) it finishes with

localhost - fatal: Socket operation on non-socket

EDIT: Again, when I set /etc/proftp/proftp.conf to standalone and start proftd -n things seem to work 8-S

Instead of reinstalling.. have you tried a purge?

From aptitude --help:
purge - Remove packages and their configuration files

sudo aptitude purge "program"
