Can I use the Apache server, and MYSQL and PHPmyAdmin with the latest version of Kubuntu?

Yes it is possible, mail server too. You "just" have to install and configure it.

One thing that helps immensely with configurations is Webmin.

Of course. I think 60%-70% of the web is powered by "Lamp" under linux.
I would be careful about installing "Lamp" on Gutsy. It is still alpha after all.

Of course, its just easier to install and comes without built in security (use/password) restictions. It is meant for "inhouse" trials and configs.
After which you can of course build your server as stable as you wish. There is plenty of documentation.

Ohh, I see...what security measures do I have to have in mind when using Xampp? Have used it for a server of mine and I thought everything was secure. Though this was on a Windows-machine that I'm about to convert to Kubuntu as soon as my new motherboard shows up.
