Google Earth used to work fine on my (KDE-only) Kubuntu Feisty installation.
However, after installing ubuntu-desktop, googleearth hangs with the splash screen and 100% CPU use when started in KDE, unless I have a GNOME session running (under a different user name.)
It seems as if GE now insists on (previously not installed) GNOME-related (GTK?) libraries, which only work when GNOME is running.
Graphics acceleration is still working (using fglrx on an ATI Radeon Mobility M300.) Nothing is written to the logs or the konsole (if googleearth is started from there.)
I'm not sure if I should file a bug against kubuntu, ubuntu, googleearth, or what!
