sudo firefox fails

In order to install global extensions in Firefox, it must load with the ability to alter its install folder - that is, it must be run as root.

In Konsole

jordan@JordanMacdonald-Laptop:~$ sudo firefox

You should really not run firefox through sudo WITHOUT the -H option.
Anyway, I'll do as if you did use the -H option.

No windows appear outside the Konsole during this. The result is the same whether Firefox is already running or not. The result is the same, less the two relevant lines, if I run with the -H parameter.

I am not sure if this belongs here, on the Firefox support site, on the KDE support site, or on some as-yet-undiscovered Konsole support site. If I guessed wrong, please point me to the right one.

kdesu firefox

Launching a graphical application from the console, you use kdesu not sudo. sudo doesn't have rights to use the X window that the 'user' is using.

Conversely you can do K->start application (or Alt+F2) and type kdesu firefox, give your password.
