    I dunno where you heard that -- not on this forum!

    A lot of the Kubuntu users on this forum say their first package to install on a new system is Synaptic (a predecessor GUI to the dpkg manager), because they don't like/don't trust/can't rely on Adept. I've used Synaptic and it is fine, but I just take Adept as it comes. It's been long while since I had any problem with Adept, but it is not famous for its popularity. :P

        I had the "Another package...." message, i think it was caused by the connection dropping when updating packages just after installation.

        The:
        Code:
        sudo dpkg --configure -a
        worked a treat.
