    Display resolution and/or graphics card driver challenge

    Hello;

    I have a Nvidia, Gforce4 Ti 4200, AGP 8x graphics card. I recently replaced a Dell 21" CRT with a Dell 24" wide screen flat panel with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 @ 60Khz. My KDE system info for monitor and display show that my resolution is 1600 x 1200. The screen doesn't look "flattened" like I would expect, but it would be nice if the KDE info matched what was really going on with my system.

    How can I determine what nvidia driver version I'm using?

    Since I can still see my old Dell CRT (P1110), what changes should I make to my X.conf file to accommodate my new wide screen monitor?

    Why are their "x" in front of the modes close to the end of the file? Are they locked out from being edited by my OS?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

    Re: Display resolution and/or graphics card driver challenge

    the newer versions of xserver-xorg & xorg support way better plug&play detection of graphics cards/monitors. unless they've been backported i think you'll have to wait till gutsy is released.

    i'm on gutsy so i'd know.
