Greetings and salutations. What I want to do seems simple enough, however I seem to be asking google the wrong questions. I've also done a search here, with no avail.
Anyrate, on with it.
I've Feisty and I want to install dual NIC's; I can do that, have the DSL router on one NIC and the other feeding the network with internet traffic; I can do that.
What I want to do is setup Kubuntu; or any alternates are welcome, to filter key words; we know the ones to filter, IP Black List, AV, and possibly a printer auditing program to bill pages to an account. The latter is a 'whim' though, the focus is on the content filters.
My boggle is that I've found several solutions, however the seem to have to run on the actual MACHINE that is surfing.
I am looking for a starting point on making a 'stand alone' box/slim client that will filter all content; aka any content received via the DSL Router and piped out of NIC #2, and have the filtered content fed to the network?
Reason? My 7 year old learned the word 'porn'.. That's what I get for watching news on the TV eh? Private schools, close circle of conservative people, and they learn it off of public tv. Oh well, i should have 'filtered' PBS. ROFL!!
Thanks for ANY help here, and I do not need 'user' accounts or anything. I want to filter ALL traffic, even mine.
Ted
