    Dolphin Crashing

Ok i know i shouldn't be using dolphin yet but its looks cool. My problem is, its crashing every time i try to open one of my drives. Its an ext3, almost full (bout 1 Gb) of space left. Dolphin is ****ting itself on it but all the other drives work fine. Could it be related to the drive being almost full?

Is this the KDE 4 version of Dolphin ?
    or is this
    Dolphin 0.8.2 ? (KDE 3.5.X)
    or
    D3lphin 0.9 ? (unofficial maintenance release for KDE 3)

Do you get error messages ? (kde sigdev 11 or something)

If you open /home/user/.xsession-errors (text-file) and then try to open drive - Is there new errors ?

Yes its sigdev 11. I opened .xsession-errors and tried to open the drive and kate detected an overwrite so there are new errors.

So what does this mean ? I formatted and copied my data back but opening one folder out of 10 makes it crash? Im guessing a bad sector..

Only you have seen the error messages. But there is:
              Bugs in dolphin in ubuntu
              https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dolphin/+bugs
              => Bug #132238 in dolphin
              https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...in/+bug/132238

              Im guessing a bad sector..
What about konqueror ? Same thing (crashing)?

              Checking hard drive:
              Install smartmontools
control and monitor storage systems using S.M.A.R.T.

The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (S.M.A.R.T.) built into most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks. It is derived from the smartsuite package, and includes support for ATA/ATAPI-5 disks. It should run on any modern Linux system.
              Reading smart logs (hda)
              In the konsole:
              Code:
              sudo smartctl -a /dev/hda
              Testing hard drive:
              Short test
              Code:
              sudo smartctl -t short /dev/hda
              Long test
              Code:
              sudo smartctl -t long /dev/hda
              More in: man smartctl

              Note
smartmontools/smartctl does not work on SATA drives on Linux Kernel 2.6.20-15.27

              Have you tried D3lphin (Dolphin) 0.9.2 ?

              D3lphin 0.9:

As mentioned on the roadmap, no official maintenance release for KDE 3 will be released anymore. But the good news is that Marcel Juhnke decided to do further bugfixing for the KDE 3 version of Dolphin and also included features like a second sidebar. As this is no official release, this project is named D3lphin and can be downloaded at marrat.homelinux.org.
There is "Debian-Package (tested with Ubuntu 7.04)"
