    How do I use Gparted

I'm running Kubuntu on an old Micron P3 with a small 20gig HDD. When I installed Kubuntu it took over most of the drive with a small swap and extended partition. How would I use Gparted to take say 10 gigs away from hda1 ext3 and create a backup ext 3 partition. I'd like to make backups of Kubuntu using Mondo or Ghost. Thanks.

      Very funny.

You can't repartition a drive that's currently in use, and the drive you're booting from will always be in use. Get the LiveCD and use that.

Though I did once unmount my main drive while the system was running... not a good idea.
      For external use only.

There were some people with problems with Gparted LiveCD, like me and I think I have 0.3.4-7: it hangs booting as it couldn't recognise my CD drive. I used Knoppix LiveCD instead as that works fine on my system and has Gparted as one of its programs.
