Everything crashes after a certain period of time

...and worst of all, I don't even know what's causing it. Everything works fine, but after a while, I get the exploding gear. The apps that crashed so far are Kaffeine, KTorrent, Azureus, KSysGuard and I think Kicker crashed once too. I haven't been saving backtraces until just now, so I'm attaching just KTorrent's.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Have you booted into memtest and had a system check of your RAM lately?

if, for some reasons, stuff can't be written to /tmp, /var, or /home/your_user
(especially /home/your_user/.kde), then you're likely to have problems...

      i'd suggest to:
      a) check the usage % of the filesystem(s) with those directories
      b) also check permissions and ownerships in those directories

Okay, I booted into memtest and watched it go along and then it hit me: I upgraded my memory recently. You'd think I'd remember things like that... Anyway, is that the problem? Because now the swap partition is smaller in size than my memory.

Size of swap would not be the cause. The memcheck would simply (hopefully) rule out a memory chip (bad RAM) problem.

Just let memtest run overnight. See what it does.
Depending on the amount of memory, it could take a really long time.

I already ran memtest and it didn't find any errors. I also used Gparted liveCD and transferred some of the free space from my /home partition to the swap partition to adjust it for the added memory size and curiously enough, nothing seems to be crashing anymore. I'll see how things go with other applications, maybe it's just a fluke.
