    trying to install simple program

I'm trying to follow this tut on i-hacked on how to install GPSD but i can't seem to get it going.

    tut link - http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/99/42/

can anyone please guide me in doing so? or know a page that explains how?

any and all input is great appreciated!

What's the problem? It is indeed very simple, just "./configure; make; sudo make install" once you've got it extracted...

      apt-get install gpsd

      i think that worked

that installs gpsd just like it would of been if i had installed it the manual way, correct?

Yep, that works just as well (if not better).

The repositories should be your first source for software. Makes everything much easier.
