Re: Package manager you use
I use the Synaptic more often than the others because it is faster on load up and filter/searches, while I will use Adept for the tagging purposes if I need to use tags. Other than that I use KPackage which is slow but is fairly easy to use and I like it for importing packages.

Re: Package manager you use
Adept Manager. I'm still new to Linux (earlier this year), having used M$ OS systems for ever (since 3.1), and MS-DOS prior to that.
I haven't tried any of the others, but on at least one or two occasions, used the apt-get from the CLI.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Re: Package manager you use
One of the first things I do after installing Kubuntu is install Synaptic. I dislike Adept.Registered Linux User #418555
Kubuntu User #9254

aptosid 2010-01 Xfce / aptosid 2010-01 KDE-Lite
Debian Wheezy Xfce / Kubuntu 10.04
aptosid 2011-01 Xfce / aptosid 2011-01 KDE-Lite
Debian Testing Gnome
Debian Sid Gnome
Epidemic 3.2
ALL pulseaudio free by default

Re: Package manager you use
I mostly use apt/aptitude in the past. Synaptic would be my second choice, if only it had a Qt/KDE port of sorts.
However, I'm giving Adept a third chance, hoping I can help improve it in the future.

Re: Package manager you use
I used Synaptic alot in Ubuntu, but since I switched to Kubuntu I really like the way Kpackage displays search results. It makes it really easy to know what Im installing/uninstalling and how the packages are connected. Adept is slow but handy in downloading the basic packages. Ive had plenty of problems with Adept running in the background and stopping me from using another package manager until I went in and killed the process

Re: Package manager you use
I would say that Adept is evolving (beta) or as in the KubuntuGutsyAdept (https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuGutsyAdept)
Adept lacks some features available in Ubuntu.
Happily using synaptic+apt-get (adept - maybe someday but not yet )

Re: Package manager you use
Yes - synaptic/adept is frontend/gui for apt:
Synaptic
Synaptic is a graphical package management program for apt. It provides the same features as the apt-get command line utility with a GUI front-end based on Gtk+.
Adept
Adept is a GUI to the Advanced Packaging Tool for KDE. Adept is developed by Peter Ročkai and is sponsored by Canonical Ltd. through the Kubuntu project.
Apt
apt - Advanced Package Tool. APT is a management system for software packages.
Aptitude
A highly configurable console front-end for Debian APT. Aptitude is a text-based interface to the Debian GNU/Linux package system.

I'm using Adept-Manager. But if I want to use Synaptic, can I unsinstall packages I've installed with Adept-Manager with Synaptic and vice versa?HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
