How to get desktop icons? I want some shortcuts to home and some of my network drives on the desktop and don't know how to get them. can someone please help me? Thank you.

For starters, you can right-click any item on the Kmenu and choose "show on desktop" (approximately -- I'm away from my Kubuntu system).

Also, if you open Konqueror, it will have a link to "media", and you can make desktop shortcuts for everything you see there.
