    Tivo software...

Does anybody know how to install Tivo 2 Go software?

    Will it work on linux?

They have a Windows and Mac OS X download, but not sure which to use.

You can't use either one! Windows version = "For Windows Only" and Mac OS X = "For Mac OS X Only" Unless there is a Linux specific download, and one that works with the *buntu version you have installed, you can't use it.

Unless you have a specific need for Tivo 2 Go, you may want to check these Linux applications out:

how do you update the apt sources list in Adept? I'm looking on the freevo page and it says I need to update the apt sources or rather add a new source, but I'm looking through Adept and can't find a list

Simple enough. First, what version of Adept are you using? Open Adept and click on Help | About Adept Manager
If it is 2.1 Cruiser (Using KDE 3.5.6), you click on Adept (on the title bar) and select Manage Repositories. Click the Third-Party Software tab. Click the Add... button. The simplest way, once the Add APT repository box opens, is to copy/paste the repository link from the site into the box and click OK.

The two repository links to paste are:

        deb http://ubuntu.geole.info/ feisty universe multiverse
        and
        deb-src http://ubuntu.geole.info/ feisty universe multiverse

Of course, you have to paste and OK each one separately. Once done, and you reload Adept, you can search for the Freevo package, and it will be listed for selection.

the only option under the Adept button on the title bar is "Quit"

Okay. You are using a different version of Adept than I am. Look for an option referring to repositories. When selected, you will see the list, which will all be grayed out. There is a further option, once on that page, to edit/manage this list.

Let me know what you find.

              Re: Tivo software...

can't find anything having to do with repositories...actually I have the cruiser 2.1 which I think is what you said that you have.

also, I skipped ahead and tried to add those lines in the source list using Kate, I rebooted because nothing seemed to change and it didn't work, so I tried to remove the lines and now when I type:

              kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources/list

              Kate won't open

                  Code:
                  kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources/list
                  Wrong entry. Use:
                  Code:
                  kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list

As to managing the repositories in Adept. Here are the screen shots:

No problem. While I'm no expert, by any means - been using Linux since March - I consider myself 'green' and am still learning, and think I always will. Learning to work with and manage a Linux OS is a double edged sword. You experience both joy and suffering!!!

Hmm. Seems like you may be jumping ahead of me a bit.

You should have added the two additional repositories. Then, restarted Adept Manager. Then, clicked on Fetch Updates. Once it refreshed the package list, you can search for the application freevo and select it for installation.
