    Gnucash reboots my pc

What in the Sam Hill? Just in the pas week or so when I load gnucash 3/4 of the time my pc will ether reboot or the screen turns off and the pc sits there with the hd light on solid then I have to hard reset. Any ideas what logs might give a clue?
    Thanks

    AFAIK :

    /var/log/dmesg.0
    /var/log/syslog.0

This are the normal dmesg and syslog of the last boot. I mean the boot before the actual one.

Odd. On other distros, I've had trouble setting up Gnucash. See if there are any updates for Gnucash or any required libs.

Everything buy Skype is up to date (the new Skype sucks) gnucash always worked great before in kubuntu, Mepis, Mandrake. This just started happening about two weeks ago. If I knew what to look for and what logs to look at I would.
        Thanks

The last lines should told you what was happening when the computer rebooted.

Yeah, you're getting the logs from the wrong time. Try making it reboot, then, booting into a LiveCD so the logs don't get modified, post the tails of the logs here.

EDIT: I mean the original logs, not the rotated ones. /var/log/syslog and /var/log/dmesg.

                  Nothing to see there...

Only one strange thing, if it reboot at noon, there should be some DHCP renewal messages after 8:14... so that's strange...

Booting from a livecd, shouldn't make a difference. Theoretically logs are not overwritten but moved (and sometimes compressed). But trying would not hurt and can uncover some error.

Just remember that a boot CD will not rotate the logs, I mean the last syslog will be /var/syslog, not /var/syslog.0.

                  Javier.

and I'll try to burn another iso I need one with xvkbd with my disability and think saiboyan dvd has it. Maybe I can get a friend to help. And BTW I rebooted around 2 but the time stamp ends around 7 could it be using a different time zone? I know gnucash loads a lotta crap so it gives the hd a workout like when I was burning the iso.........I wish I were smart

                    Thanks

                      Re: Gnucash reboots my pc

Just wandering if this might have anything to do with the kernel update that came out, oh about 2 months back. I staid up for 70 days on the kernel that came with the CD installer, but after adept-updater updated the kernel/Nvidia drivers the trouble started and, though gnucash reboots my system 90% of the time, other things also will cause a reboot. Has any one heard if there's been any trouble with 2.6.20-16-generic?
                      Thanks

Try the other kernel and see if it goes away.
