    Kmail too much slow !

I always used Kmail but in last months it became slower ans slower, so much that now I moved to thunderbird.
When kmail look for new email it do not respond for 3 or 5 minutes, only after this time I can read new emails. With thunderbird it is a question of seconds...
What to check ? I followed step by step several suggestions from the forums but no one solved !
Anyboby know what is wrong ?

Are you leaving mail on the server? Are you using POP3 or IMAP?

I am leaving mail on server for 2 days. I am using POP3.
With Thunderbird I am using exactly the same config.

Merely a wild guess - but what is the size of your mailbox(es)?

        Code:
        USER # du -sh /home/[user]/.kde/share/apps/kmail/
For comparison: "all empty" default would be around 100 KB.

In my kubuntu I have following output:
          alpa@localhost:~$ du -sh /home/alpa/.kde/share/apps/kmail/
          48M /home/alpa/.kde/share/apps/kmail/

            for comparison only:
            Code:
            $ du -sh .kde/share/apps/kmail/
            80M .kde/share/apps/kmail/
it's 3 email accounts i manage with kmail.
            never had the slightest issue.

Its extremely slow for me too. Fresh setup have just one account on it using POP3, leaving messages on the server. I've been using Evolution and was thinking of switching to Kmail, but now I'm not sure that would be a good idea.
