    kde 3.5.7

Ever since I upgraded to kde 3.5.7 (kubuntu feisty) konqueror and kcontrol both cause complete system freezes (forcing hard reboot) if I try to run them. Is there any way to fix this other than downgrading kde?

What do you mean by that?

Could you also tell us how you went about your "upgrade" to kde3.5.7?

      Re: kde 3.5.7

By "upgrade" I mean that I was at kde 3.5.5 and then I added the first repo specified at :
      http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-357.php

      and ran
      Code:
      aptitude update
      aptitude upgrade
Afterwards I logged out and back in (just like it says on the page) and everything was fine. However, after about 30 minutes my computer froze, I don't know why, I had just left and when I got back it was frozen; and upon booting back up kde started fine and such, but whenever I try to view either my home directory in konqueror or open kcontrol's Appearance section the entire computer hard freezes (forcing a reboot).

And the older version of kde worked, so if i have to I guess that I can somehow downgrade back to that ... but I don't want to so ...

Perhaps check the KDM log: /var/log/kdm.log?

        Also the system log, /var/log/messages.
        For external use only.
