    complete system lock-up

I installed Feisty fresh just 3 days ago. This afternoon I experienced what appeared to be a complete system lock-up. Only user application I was running was Kmail. The whole system suddenly went unresponsive, no combination of keys broke me out. Could not switch sessions, logout, etc....even the mouse cursor was frozen.

I'd like to know if there is any data that I could post to help identify the issue.

Is this a common problem with Feisty or Ubuntu/Kubuntu in general?

Ugh ... you may try to (re-) boot with the (additional) parameter acpi=off

Would there be a crash log to look at?

      What would acpi=off do?

From a freeze? None I would know of.

Has ACPI been known to cause things like this, or are you just taking a wild guess?

What will quit working if I disable it?
