Kaffeine No Video

    Kaffeine No Video

    Turned on the comp this morning and kaffeine refuses to show any video. The sound plays fine but no video for any filetype. Ive tried rmvb, avi, mpg, mp4 and still nothing. I even reinstalled libxine-extracodecs and w32codecs but no success and i know for sure that ive set the decoder paths. What the heck could be weong?

    P.S Ive also tried switching the video drivers around...

    Have you tried removing kaffeine, reboot, reinstall kaffeine? I figured you had it working fine before. Give that a try.

      What i have noticed:

      When amarok (xine) says:
      No suitable demux plugin
      It was playing fine a monent ago >

      or

      When kaffeine (xine) shows black screen (it was playing fine a moment ago :P )


      Remove /home/user/.xine and everything is fine (to the next time).


      Don't know what or why but ...

        Thanks Rog 131. I finally got kaffeine to work but im getting some error messages when i try to play any file. It only seems to work if i use the File-Open option. Heres a screenshot..

          Hmm - i had same kind of problems in the dapper:
          Flash video startted only from File-Open option. Not from konqueror/dolphin.

          Solution -> Total removal (and re-installation) of kaffeine (kaffeine, kaffeine-xine...) and /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine.



          Before you edit, BACKUP !

          Why there are dead links ?

              Which packages do i have to remove exactly? Coz I removed (even purged) kaffeine, kaffeine-xine and other xine stuff that i don't know even how to use it, removed /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine and reinstalled the packages but the problem is still there. Sound but no video.

                Review my HOWTO: Get commercial DVD playback in Kaffeine. Ensure that the specified packages listed are in fact installed.
                Windows no longer obstructs my view.
