I have been using regular ext3 partitions/file systems for a while but now I am thinking of using LVM instead since I have bought a new disk.
With ext3 I have had several disks with a master (linux boot and software installed) and a couple of data disks (web roots, media files, personal files, FTP root,...etc). When I have reinstalled the system I backup configurations and copies them to data disks. After re-installation I could easily remount the data disks to access the data, very simple.
How does this work with LVM partitions? Is it possible to have the same working process and if different I would be pleased if someone could give a short explanation.
