How do I get sound, java and video in konqueror?

I have a fresh install of kubuntu fiesty fawn and I don't get any sound and/or video at news sites like foxnews.com, cnn.com or others.

I have flashplayer installed in /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and in /usr/lib/flash-plugins.

In konqueror, >Settings>Configure Konqueror>plugins, flashplayer is pointed to the right folders.

I'm a ubuntu newby and really liking kubuntu and would like to stick with konqueror, since it's a KDE thing, instead of firefox, that is if I can get konqueror to do all that I can get firefox to do.

Java is up to sun-java6 update 1, so I cannot use Adept Manager to download this. Besides Adept Manager keeps crashing on me. I'll figure that out later.

I've been to some of the other posts and tried installing thier magic programs, but they don't seem to be available on the repos that come with the install DVD.

Thanks in advance for your help.
