Welp, all was going aok, so I went to fiddle again and installed Beryl. As stated, I had to smoke this box, and am rebuilding as I go.
Anyhoo, the boggle I ran into was this.
I was watching "Trailer Park Boys" on DVD with VLC, and changed the opacity so I could see Fire Fox 'under' it. I right clicked on the VLC 'decor' and chose "advanced-keep above others", and ensured it 'depressed'. It is NOT greyed out.
After setting the "keep above others" switch, I clicked on FireFox. Poof.. VLC went behind FireFox. I tried multiple times thinking I chose the wrong 'bar', but no joy.
I did a google and forum search, and all I found was a 'greyed out' bug. However, the option appearers to 'set' properly. And yes, I've rebooted. 8)
Any help would be grand. I installed Beryl via 'add/remove programs', installed the rest; aquamarine-emerald-tools, from synaptic. Maybe I missed a 'package' or something, or I need to change my xorg.conf.
Thanks again for your help.
